Patricia Del Grosso has expertise in evaluating early childhood education programs and systems, including early care and education services for infants and toddlers, home visiting programs, home-based child care, and child care quality rating and improvement systems.
Del Grosso directs the national descriptive study of Early Head Start-child care partnerships. She also plays a key role in the national cross-site evaluation of the Regional Partnership Grants, which fund evidence-based services and programs designed to increase the well-being and enhance the safety of children who are in or at risk of out-of-home placements as a result of a parent or caretaker’s substance abuse. She has contributed to the implementation study and provides evaluation technical assistance to grantees. Her experience conducting systematic reviews includes reviewing implementation research literature on early childhood home visiting models and identifying and reviewing emerging models of infant/toddler early care and education services that are compelling to the field, but do not yet have a strong evidence base.
Del Grosso joined Mathematica in 2004. She presents her research at academic conferences, including the Society for Research in Child Development Biennial Meeting, and publishes in journals such as Early Childhood Research Quarterly and the American Journal of Public Health. Del Grosso holds an M.S. in education policy from the University of Pennsylvania.
